In The Planet Crafter, you will at some point need Uranium. You will need it in order to launch rockets or just for making a lot of glowing green power stations to achieve Hulk Mode. So maybe you are wondering how to find Uranium or you just need to know what is the best way to get a lot of Uranium in The Planet Crafter. So get ready to ward away Superman with this kryptonite look-a-like because I’m about to walk you through how to get all the Uranium you’ll ever need.
Storage Crates
So it doesn’t need to be said again too many times, but if you’ve watched my guide videos, read the blog posts, or have just been playing the game for a while, then you know you can get Uranium just like many other materials through the Blue and Golden Crates. The higher your Terraformation Index is when you first open a crate, then the better the quality of items that will randomly generate when you open it. So this is one way you can get your first few pieces of Uranium, but it’s not a good way to get a lot of Uranium.
Uranium Rockets & Meteor Storms
The way you will get most of your Uranium in the early to mid-game is through the use of rockets to summon Uranium Meteor Storms. For this method to work you will also need access to a steady supply of Iridium (How To Get Iridium In Planet Crafter). You will also need to collect or craft some Super Alloy, you need the Launch Platform built, and finally you need at least 2 pieces of Uranium. In order to built a rocket on the Launch Platform, you need a Rocket Engine which requires 2 Uranium to craft. So whether you find the Uranium or luck out by finding a Rocket Engine in a crate, you will still need at least 1 Rocket Engine to get this going. Once you launch the rocket, just get yourself a good place to sit and watch the meteors fall.
Now the drawback to the Meteor Storm method is that it is manual work. It’s not something you can run on autopilot, and it is time-consuming. Once you launch the rocket, you can brave the meteor storm to collect the Uranium. But you don’t have to! Like all other storms, except Super Alloy storms, the dropped materials will only despawn when you exit your game. So you can just wait till the storm is over and sift through all the rubble. Or just show how patient you are and wait for the rubble to despawn leaving a bunch of glowing green Uranium pieces scattered around the landscape. The rocket method is repeatable and will suffice for your Uranium needs until you unlock the T2 Ore Extractor.
Just a quick tip: if you launch another rocket right after one meteor storm has ended, it will speed up the despawn rate. This is because you are just adding more meteors on top of the existing ones so either way you’ll still end up with some rubble that you have to wait for it to despawn.
Uranium Mining
Once you unlock the T2 Ore Extractor, you can take full advantage of the main Uranium Cave (585 : 38 : -664) in the game which supports multiple Ore Extractors. The Uranium Cave can be reached easily from the Cracked Spires by taking the pathway showcased in the video above. Technically you can come to this cave early in the game to collect the single pieces of Uranium scattered through the cave, but like other spawned materials the Uranium will not respawn after you collect it. Personally I prefer leaving at least a few pieces for the visual effect. The real advantage of this cave of course is mining the Uranium with your T2 Ore Extractors.
